What UFA funds can pay for
Odyssey asks one question about every Utah Fits All expense: is the item inherently educational, or a general-purpose item that could be used for learning? Only the first qualifies.
If your service or product isn't on the list, families can't buy it with program funds, however good it is. Check before you apply.

- Tutoring
- After-school and summer education programs
- After-school extracurriculars and physical education (each limited to 20% of funding)
- Fine arts instruction
- Educational therapies: occupational, behavioral, physical, audiology and speech-language
Goods1
- Textbooks, curriculum and instructional materials
- Educational software and apps
- Individual (not bulk) educational supplies, STEM kits and manipulatives
- Musical instrument rental and art supplies
- Laptops, desktops, tablets, printers and 3D printers (price caps apply)
- Disability assistive devices and calculators
- Internet service fees
Tuition, fees and travel1
- Tuition, registration and individual courses
- Technical college fees and materials
- Exam fees
- Rides to and from a qualifying provider, up to $750 a school year
Not eligible
- General-purpose items such as power tools, firearms and general gym equipment, even if used for learning. Items the guide names as ineligible can't be approved on appeal.2
- Tickets to sporting events, movies and theater, ski passes, and camps whose main purpose isn't academic or skill-based instruction.2
Worth knowing
- Any pre-approval from Odyssey's assistant or support team is conditional; the final decision comes after the expense is submitted with a valid receipt.1
