How to become an Arkansas EFA vendor

Arkansas's education savings accounts, run by the Arkansas Department of Education's Office of School Choice and Parent Empowerment with ClassWallet handling payments. Tutors, therapists, transportation providers, microschools and online schools apply to the Department as service providers; most product sellers don't need to apply at all.

Who can apply

  • The Department sorts applicants into three groups: full-time student-facing providers (microschools, learning pods, online schools), part-time student-facing providers (tutors, therapists, transportation), and vendors that never work with students directly.1
  • Uniform and school-supply vendors don't need to apply to become EFA vendors.1
  • Families can spend EFA funds on tuition and fees, uniforms, testing, instructional materials, tutoring, curricula, supplemental supplies, specific technology, transportation and college course fees.1

Documents by provider type

Tutors

  • Any one of: an Arkansas Standard or Provisional teaching license (or an ADE-recognized alternative route), membership in a State Board-recognized accredited tutoring organization, employment teaching at an accredited college or university, a bachelor's or graduate degree in the subject, 3 or more years of teaching experience, or other evidence of expertise in the subject.1
  • Part-time student-facing providers need background checks with fingerprinting.1

Therapists

  • An active state license in your therapy, plus background checks with fingerprinting.1

Transportation

  • An active driver's license, plus background checks with fingerprinting.1

Microschools, pods and online schools (full-time)

  • Background checks for every student-facing staff member, instruction in English language arts, math, social studies and science, administration of assessments, compliance with Title VI non-discrimination rules, a price list, and staff credentials.1
