What Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit funds can pay for

Idaho's Parental Choice Tax Credit covers a short list of expenses named in the law. The Tax Commission says the law doesn't mention any other kinds of expenses, and it can't pre-approve purchases.

If your service or product isn't on the list, families can't buy it with program funds, however good it is. Check before you apply.

Qualifying expenses1

  • Full-time K-12 nonpublic school tuition, or a curriculum covering English, math, science and social studies
  • Textbooks
  • Tutoring in those four core subjects
  • Reasonable transportation to and from the nonpublic school
  • Nationally standardized tests and prep courses, college admission and AP exams, and industry certification exams

Worth knowing

  • Keep a paid invoice or receipt for every expense. Money spent on expenses that don't qualify, or that you can't document, must be paid back.1
